Mother seeks child custody after discovering abuse

When you don't have custody of your child in Maryland, you don't know what's going on all the time. Of course, if you feel that your ex may be harming your child, then it's important to bring this up in your child custody case. In this case, a biological mother without child custody discovered that her child had been abused to the point that he was nearly starved to death. Now, she's seeking child custody and trying to get her son away from his father and stepmother. The April 1 report claims that the father and stepmother have been arrested and charged with child endangerment.

This case is interesting for a few reasons. The woman had allegedly not been able to see her son in 2.5 years, despite the fact that she was wanting to see him. The report claims that the little 5-year-old boy had been kept away from his mother on purpose. The boy's father allegedly took him out of state often, so she wasn't able to locate him.

The woman was able to see her son the week of April 1 for the first time in over two years. The child is now reportedly only 29 pounds, and he has been hospitalized. According to CPS officials, the little boy had not been emaciated when he was visited earlier in the year; at that point, the child had been interviewed and photographed by the child welfare workers.

Allegations of abuse and neglect were reported, and social workers were sent to investigate the child's case further. However, they allegedly had an attorney, and they would not cooperate. Following that, the social workers were told that the family had moved out of state. The little boy was discovered at the home on March 27 when law enforcement was called for a disturbance at the home. They saw that a 16-year-old boy and a man were fighting outside, and it was then that the officers found out that the child was being forced to live in a closet in the house.
